The Best Annual Boating Events at the Lake of the Ozarks
Not too long ago our LSK Lebanon blog featured some of the upcoming Missouri fishing tournaments you do not want to miss. Today, we're turning our attention to some of the best annual boating events at the Lake of the Ozarks that are fun to enjoy with the entire family or a big group of friends.
Simply spending any day out on that lake is a wonderful way time but these events give you an extra incentive to make the trip. Mark a few (or all) of these on your calendar, then get yourself over to our boat dealership in mid-Missouri to either buy that brand new watercraft you've been dreaming of or schedule an appointment for us to repair or upgrade a boat you already own.
22nd Annual Spring Harbor Hop
Saturday, May 4
The Lake of the Ozark's largest poker run on the water is an excellent way to kick off boating season! (They do it all again in the fall once the season begins winding down too.) More than 40 waterfront bars and restaurants participate in this lakewide event.
All you need to do to play is check out the list of stops at Funlake.com/HarborHop and plan your route. At the first stop, sign up and pay an optional $20 donation for each 7-card hand you would like to collect. For the rest of the day until 7:00 pm, you "hop" your way from stop to stop, collecting cards as you go. Turn in the completed hand where you draw your final card and that's all there is to it.
The game and prizes are just an excuse to get out on the water and have a good time. The real excitement comes from cruising the gorgeous Lake of the Ozarks with friends and family and getting to explore a few of the many wonderful waterfront venues the lake area has to offer.
Lake Race
May 30-June 2
This invitational offshore powerboat race is back at the Lake of the Ozarks for its 7th year of excitement but will be taking place in a new section of the lake this year. The Lake Race is a family fun boating event filled with speed, power, and excitement. Some of the fastest and most powerful boats in the world will be competing to claim the title.
The crowds, as well as the race itself, get a bit larger each year and that consistent growth created the need for more space. The event will be taking place at Camden on the Lake in Lake Ozark (mile marker 7.) You should be able to see the race from land, but it's a lot more impressive when you view it closeup from your own boat on the water! Get all the details you need at LakeRace.com.

July 20
Dog Days Bar & Grill in Osage Beach (mile marker 19) is the home of this concert on the lake! It's advertised as the single largest one-day boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks. Boats will pack the cove and the water will be filled with people enjoying a day full of amazing live music. This year's lineup includes
31st Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout
August 24-25
The Shootout itself is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the U.S. and has been named by Powerboat Magazine as one of the nation's 8 "must-see" boating events! Captain Ron's Bar & Grill in Sunrise Beach (mile marker 34.5) is the home base for this event, but spectators line the "racetrack" on the water in boats to catch all the action. Boats of all shapes and sizes race the clock to claim the top speed in their division and the coveted title of "Top Gun."
You'll find details about the event itself at LakeOfTheOzarksShootout.com as well as information about all kinds of fun events taking place throughout the year leading up to the race weekend. The Shootout raises funds for 8 Lake-area rescue teams and numerous other charitable organizations. Last year alone $300,000 was given to those 8 fire departments and 32 different charities!
