HOW TO DO MAINTENANCE ON YOUR ATV
After making an investment in an ATV, I’m sure you want to
maintain it as long as possible. It’s crushing when they only perform well for
a couple of years. Just like a car, maintenance is required to keep up and
running for longer.
LSK
Lebanon wants to ensure your outdoor fun for many years to come. That’s why
we’re excited to introduce to you ways you can keep up your maintenance of your
ATV.
Otherwise, if you’re looking to invest in a new ATV at your local
dealer near Lake of the Ozarks, now you will be prepared for the supplies
you need to accumulate.
The following year-round maintenance tips will help increase
your ATV’s lifespan once you start riding consistently.
1. Get REGULAR Checkups
Not every ATV technician is the
same. Some don’t perform the same services as others. You want to check in
advance to make sure the technician you’re taking your vehicle will do the
following: check tires, inspect brake pads and shoes, check the spark plugs and
brake fluid, and change the oil, if needed. If they don’t perform all these
services, you’ll have to go to different technicians on separate occasions just
to keep up with your yearly maintenance.
2. Clean Regularly
If you’ve read our blog previously, you know this is something we always preach. Cleaning your vehicle regularly is just as important as other maintenance items because this helps your ATV run the way it’s supposed to.
For example, when mud or dirt cake to the steel of your ATV, it needs to be washed off as soon as possible. Otherwise, the mud and dirt hold moisture to the steel which then causes rusting.
3. Keep the Air Filter Clean
The whole purpose behind an air filter is to produce clean air for the engine because the engine needs clean air to work. This means you need a properly working air filter. To maximize your air filter’s performance, it must be dry and clean.
Frequently check your air filter to
avoid engine issues especially after dusty or muddy rides.
4. Regularly Change or Check the Oil
Again, just like a car, oil needs to be checked regularly to help your ATV operate properly. It needs to be checked once a week and every time you fill your tank with gas.
Just make sure you inspect the
owner’s manual for the recommended type of oil and weight.
5. Tire Pressure Maintenance
Checking your tire pressure is something so simple yet effective. With low pressure, you can damage your vehicle or even crash.
To check your tire pressure, use a
low-pressure tire gauge. This is important to do every time you go for a ride.
6. Continuously Check the Belt
When riding on terrain or riding
through different weather conditions, your vehicle’s belt can become worn down
or stretched out. This causes performance issues. Regularly check your belt to
make sure it’s in good condition so you can ride for longer. Avoid riding
wildly to maintain its condition for longer.
Now that you’re an expert on maintaining your ATV, you can prolong your riding experience and enjoy better rides with your family. As the school year is approaching, be sure to get out there with the kiddos as much as possible.
