The Lake of the Ozarks, the largest boating lake in the country, boasting a vast 92 miles for you to explore and is our top pick for Fall fishing in Central Missouri. Lake of the Ozarks contains several local fish hatcheries, most notably the Osage Catfisheries and Ozark Fisheries, so you can expect a fully
stocked water system. Most fishermen want some variety in their catch and Lake of the Ozarks has an expansive list of fish available. In Lake of the Ozarks, you can expect to find; largemouth bass, white bass, blue catfish, channel catfish, paddlefish, white crappie, walleye, sunfish gar and bluegill. Little Dixie Lake
Little Dixie Lake comes up second on our list for Central Missouri’s best fall fishing. Located 10 miles west of Kingdom City this 205-acre lake was constructed after the damming of Owl Creek. A neat feature of this lake, aside from the fantastic fishing, is that it is handicap accessible. When fishing the Little Dixie Lake anglers can expect to find; largemouth bass, blue & channel catfish – which are stocked each October, bluegill, crappie, common carp, redear sunfish, and the endangered lake sturgeon. So if you’re looking to do some specific catfishing, Little Dixie Lake may just be your dream location.
Blind Pony Lake
Last but certainly not least, Blind Pony Lake holds up the 3rd spot on our list for best of fall fishing in Central Missouri. Located roughly 8 miles from Sweet Springs, Missouri. This 195-acre lake is home to channel catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. The most prominent Fall catch being the catfish that are stocked each October. While fishing, you’ll be surrounded by the area’s oak-hickory forests and thick undergrowth and fishless ponds to develop woodland wildlife scenery -- so you may not be fishing alone!
